A power float is used to float large areas of concrete flooring. Nowadays, the pan attachment is used much more often than floating blades. This is because the pan covers the blades rather than replacing them, saving the operative time and effort when changing between floating and trowelling.
Too much power floating can lead to a darkening of the surface known as burnishing. It can also seal the surface prematurely (much like trowelling) which, if done before bleeding is completely finished, carries an increased risk of delamination.
