Admixture

Summary

Admixture - is an addition to the batched concrete mix (normally a chemical) which alters its properties whilst it is fresh or after it has hardened.

Technical Information

There are various types of admixture including;

  • Water reducing admixtures
  • Retarding admixtures
  • Accelerating admixtures
  • Superplasticisers
  • Speciality admixtures
  • Pigments

Unlike cement replacing materials, admixtures have no pozzolanic properties.
