When concrete is pre-mixed at a batching plant, the ratios of its constituents can be more tightly controlled, leading to more consistent properties between batches.
Most large projects with cast in situ elements get ready-mix concrete delivered from a batching plant as it is much more convenient than mixing it on site.
After the concrete is mixed, it is sent to site in an agitator truck. If the batching plant is far away from site, retarding admixtures can be added to the batch to ensure that it doesn’t set in transit.
