Summary

Compressive and Flexural Strength - The standard method of specifying concrete for most structural applications is by characteristic cube strength. However the important strength parameter for ground-supported slabs is flexural tensile strength.

Technical Information

Routine flexural tensile testing of concrete is not common practice. Eurocode 2 use fixed relationships, to calculate flexural and axial tensile strength from the concrete compressive strength class.
