It is very important to set a datum whilst levelling as it allows measurements from the whole floor to be compared. Agreeing on the location of the datum is one of the first stages of the levelling process.

When levelling a warehouse floor, the datum is usually set as one of the following:

  • The whole site datum.
  • The expected floor surface level, according to the pre-construction plans.
  • The average level of the floor surface.
