Flying End

Summary

Flying End - Flying ends are areas at the edge of a sheet of mesh reinforcement which only have bars oriented in one direction.

Technical Information

In fabric reinforcement for a concrete slab, flying ends should be used to prevent the build-up of reinforcement at laps, thus preventing restraint of the concrete due to over-reinforcement in a small area. They also ensure that the reinforcement remains at minimal height from the base of the slab, ensuring that the slab has more uniform moment capacity throughout.
