Shear Stud

Summary

Shear Stud - A shear stud is typically a small element welded to a steel construction component designed to resist shear loadings between the concrete and steel interfaces.

Technical Information

In concrete floors, steel shear studs are typically found on an armoured joint, which will act as permanent formwork. When the concrete is placed it moulds around the stud, permanently anchoring the joint armour to the concrete.
