This truss system is usually mounted on rails on the formwork. This ensures that the elevation of the truss remains constant as it moves across the slab surface. Trusses are used because they are very rigid and therefore shouldn’t flex when spanning long distances. This ensures that the floor will be completely flat.
The truss comes in sections around 1-3m long and the sections can be joined together to form a structure up to 20m long. This makes the truss screed a good option for screeding wide bay pours.
A motor is used to vibrate the truss whilst it is being used. This compacts the concrete at the same time as screeding it, eliminating the need to use pokers.
