Air Entrainment

Air Entrainment - Air entrainment is a process where tiny air bubbles are introduced into the concrete.

Air Content

Air Content - The air content is the amount of air contained within a concrete element, usually expressed as a percentage.

Agitator Truck

Agitator Truck - An agitator truck has a large rotating drum on the rear of its chassis used to mix concrete ingredients and to ensure it doesn’t set whilst in transit.

Agitation

Agitation - In construction, agitation is the act of mechanically disturbing fresh concrete.

Aggregate Shadowing

Aggregate Shadowing - is the development of dark spots on the surface of a recently laid concrete floor slab.

Aggregate Interlock

Aggregate Interlock - Mechanism that transfers load across a crack in concrete by means of interlocking between irregular aggregate and cement paste surfaces on each side of the track.

Aggregate Grading - is a measure of how well distributed the sizes of the particles in an aggregate are. A well graded aggregate will have a good range of particle sizes and will have a fair representation from every size of particle.

Admixture

Admixture - is an addition to the batched concrete mix (normally a chemical) which alters its properties whilst it is fresh or after it has hardened.
