Technical Information

Point Load Example - Racking Leg Loads

An example is racking leg loads. The size of the load compared with the size of the base plate is such that the load can effectively be modelled as a point.

Another example of a point load is an Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) wheel which has a very small contact area in comparison to its imposed load. However for analysis purposed this load is treated differently to the racking load as it also has a dynamic characteristic.

This type of load is represented in kN (N).
