Shot Blasting

Shot Blasting - can be used to strip, clean and mechanically prepare a concrete surface ready to receive a new covering or to retexture a concrete surface to improve skid resistance.

Captive shot blasting works by firing abrasive material, or shot, such as steel or sand at the surface at a high velocity.

The shot hits the surface and rebounds, where the shot and debris enters a separator where the debris is separated from the shot. The shot is then recycled back into the system and reused. It is totally dust free and effective in the removal of old floor paints, rubber, adhesives and other surface contaminants.

This surface preparation technique leaves the surface dry, clean and profiled ready to receive the laying of a new floor system, such as a floor paint, resin coating or cementitious screed.

A shot blaster can prepare large areas of up to 3000m2 in a working day, depending on the strength of blast that is required. And also the size of the equipment being used, as shot blasters can be ride on or walk behind. It is an ideal and cost effective way of carrying out surface preparation on large areas of a concrete floor slab.

It can be used to Retexture surfaces that have worn smooth after years of traffic, by blasting the surface that will provide a textured profile and improve skid resistance of the surface.
